Nanyang Normal University is a full-time provincial undergraduate institute of higher learning and a master degree authorized unit in Henan Province and situated on the west of the culturally renowned city of Nanyang which is the sub-central city of Henan Province and also the center of the culture of Chu and Han and the Three Kingdoms. The university is a discipline innovation and intelligence introduction base in China, a characteristic backbone discipline construction university, a special and urgent needs backbone discipline group construction unit and a constructing university with international characteristics of Henan Province.

The university covers a total area of more than 2500 Mu (1,666,667 square meters), with a building area of 840,000 square meters (excluding area under construction). The total value of teaching and research equipment is over 500 million yuan, with 2.6 million printed books in Chinese and foreign languages and 3.7 million electronic books. The total number of full-time students is over 31,000. There are more than 1,900 faculty members, including more than 1,580 full-time teachers.

Presently, the university has twenty-four teaching schools (including School of College English Teaching and Studies, Center for Public Arts Education, School of International Education), 6 industrial schools and sets up 72 undergraduate majors and 12 master’s degree authorization points. Subjects covers science, engineering, humanities, law, history, philosophy, economics, management, education and art.

The main course the English teachers will teach is Oral English. The other courses such as Literature, Business English, writing and so on will be optional and negotiable on the basis of teaching needs. You will be free to form your own teaching plan according to the needs of students, from your unique qualifications and experience. You can develop your own curriculum within the broad framework of the university’s degree program.

On the basis of English teaching demands for every school year, the University would like to seek at least 6 English speakers for teaching undergraduate, English and non-English Major students. The teaching requirement is 9 classes per week of 90 minutes each. School days run from 8.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. on weekdays. Any extra periods are by mutual agreement only and are paid as overtime. Class sizes are normally in the range of 15-30. Student ages range between 18- 22 and are a bit quiet at first, but very enthusiastic, hard-working and highly motivated.

The university is very close to the busy center of Nanyang. The city has a wide range of shops, restaurants, hotels and other facilities, including several large, luxury department stores. There are two supermarkets opposite the campus and there are a number of smaller shops and restaurants within the university grounds. Many vendors provide a wide range of goods, including fresh fruit, vegetables and hot street food near the campus.

Essential requirements:

• 1. Bachelor’s Degree or above;
• 2. Two years teaching experience or above;
• 3. Native English speaker

Necessary materials:

• 1. Detailed resume with the starting and ending dates (month – year) of each educational and work experience;
• 2. Photograph of the passport’s photo page;
• 3. Photograph of your highest authenticated degree and clear criminal background certificates from the Chinese Embassy.
• 4. Reference letters from previous and present employers in the last two years
• (If you worked in a Chinese school, please provide the reference with signature and the school’s red stamp);
• 5. Photograph of educational certificates or TESL/TESOL/TEFL certificates, if applicable;
• 6. One recent electronic head shot with white background which is no more than 200 KB.

Benefits:

• Salary: 11000-13,000 Yuan per month depending on your qualifications, teaching experience and the course.

In addition:

• 2200 Yuan travel allowance for one year contract.
• 1100 Yuan will be paid at the close of each semester free utilities.
• 500 Yuan contract extension bonus each month.
• Round-trip economy airfare for one year contract. (15000 Yuan paid for teacher who is from outside Asian country, 9500 Yuan paid in two installments).
• One or two months paid vacation at the end of each semester.

• Free water and electricity charges.
• Rent-free accommodation in fully furnished flat. The apartment is private. All apartments include a big living room, kitchen, bathroom, a study room and 2 bedrooms. Equipment includes TV, refrigerator, drinking water machine, shower, western-style toilet, microwave oven, air conditioner/heater, and computer with printer and free Internet access.

Nanyang has convenient transportations. There is good air, rail and high-speed railway and bus links to other regions and flights to cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Tianjin, Chengdu and so on.
