About the Forum

The school of economics of Shanghai University adheres to the school motto “Be self-improvement to benefit the society”. Its profound heritage of humanity and learning are derived from the school of Business Administration of Shanghai University, the school of international business of Shanghai University and the school of economics and management of Shanghai University of technology which are established in 1983. In 1986, the school of Business Administration of Shanghai University was renamed “the Business School, Shanghai University”, which is one of the earliest business schools in China. In 1993, the Business School of Shanghai University merged with the International Business School of Shanghai University to become the “International Business School of Shanghai University”, focusing on cultivating senior professional managers. Its distinctive characteristics of school is unique in Shanghai, and its graduates are very popular among the employers. In 1999, Shanghai University decided to merge its school of international business, School of economics and management, and the Department of library-information-archives and Department of public management of the school of arts to establish the school of international business and management, which became the largest school of Shanghai University at that time; In July 2008, to meet the needs of talent training, the school of international business and management of Shanghai University restructured its organizational structure, and the school of economics of Shanghai University came into being.

The school consists of three entities: the Department of economics, the Department of Finance and the industrial economy research center, as well as a number of research institutions such as the Research Institute of new structural economics, China Service Trade Research Center, modern finance research center and the efficiency research center of the Chinese government.

At present, the school has more than 100 faculty members, of which professional teachers account for about 80%, professors account for about 15% and associate professors account for about 40%. After the implementation of large-scale enrollment in Shanghai University, the school now has more than 600 undergraduates, more than 700 masters and doctoral students, and more than 400 international students from different countries and regions.

Shanghai University enjoys beautiful working environment, broad space for the career development, international platform for research and teaching and a highly competitive remuneration package. 2021 International Forum for Young Business Scholars will be held, and we sincerely welcome talents at home and abroad to participate. This young scholar forum aims to build an academic exchange platform for outstanding young scholars at home or abroad who study in the fields of economics or other business subjects, explore hot issues of business subjects, promote academic exchange and cooperation, strengthen a comprehensive understanding of Shanghai University and the school of economics, gather global talents for the “first-class business” construction plan of Shanghai university.

2021 International Forum for Young Business Scholars will be held online in November 2021, and the participating scholars can realize face-to-face communication through the Internet without leaving home.

I. Applicants under the age of 40 and have received Ph.D. degrees in domestic and foreign high-level universities or research institutions. Applicants who get assistant professor and above titles and have made breakthrough, the age can be relaxed.

II. Applicants who have made a breakthrough in the frontiers of the disciplines or own good development potential;

III. Applicants who are willing to return to China for development and working on academic research based in Shanghai.
