In order to achieve these goals, Institute of Humanities is inviting applications for tenure-track and teaching positions including professors, associate professors and assistant professors from renowned universities and research institutions at home and abroad.

 

Teaching & Research Areas 

  1. Philosophy: Chinese Philosophy, Western Philosophy, Logic, Science Philosophy, Aesthetics
  2. Chinese language and literature: Ancient literature, modern literature, literary theory, comparative literature and world literature, Chinese writing
  3. History: Chinese history, World history, Historical theory, Art history
  4. Foreign Language and Literature: Foreign Language studies in English, French, German and Japanese, British and American literature, French literature, German literature, Japanese and literature

 

Qualifications 

* Requirements for Professors, Associate professors

  • Excellent academic background, PhD degree, undergraduate and graduate studies should be carried out at renowned universities.
  • Capable of continuously publishing high-impact research articles on important or top journals, outstanding achievements in his/her area of research.
  • High academic reputation in relevant area.
  • Available for full-time work.
  • Teach three or more different courses.

* Requirements for Assistant professors

  • PhD degree form first-tier universities or first-tier disciplines.
  • Proven track record of excellent research capacity and potential, active in academic thinking.
  • Research achievements recognized by experts in relevant field, capable of opening at least three different undergraduate courses.
  • Available for full-time work.

 

Salary Package 

According to the regulations and evaluation system of Shanghai University of science and technology, we provide highly competitive salary and a comprehensive benefit package. Negotiable for exceptional outstanding candidates.

Tenure Track Faculty Positions in the School of History, Nanjing University

I. About the School

The School of History first emerged in 1902 as the National History Department of Sanjing Normal School. In 1952, after the amalgamation of National Central University’s Departments of History and Border Politics and the Department of History of Jinling University, Nanjing University’s History Department was born. In December 2014, the Department of History was transformed into the School of History. Today, the School consists of the Department of Chinese History, the Department of World History, the Department of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage, and several world-class research institutes, including the Institute of International Relations, and the Institute of Chinese Border Politics.

The School of History now has three first-level disciplines: Chinese History, World History and Archaeology. It has a total of 80 faculty members, including 3 Chang Jiang Scholars, and 3 Distinguished Young Scholars.

The School of History has a long and illustrious history. It not only has an internationally renowned faculty, but also offers a comprehensive range of degree programs covering undergraduate, master’s, doctoral and postdoctoral education. As the School places great importance on the professional and intellectual developments of its faculty members, it provides first-class facilities and excellent administrative support for teaching and academic research.

 

II. Positions

We now have 4 tenure track positions available (including tenure track assistant professor and tenure track associate professor). The candidates are expected to teach and research in the following areas:

  • (1) Chinese History
  • (2) World History
  • (3) Archaeology

 

III. Qualifications

(1) Compliance with the applicable laws and regulations as well as enthusiasm toward teaching and research.

(2) Adherence to academic integrity and ethics, with no criminal record.

(3) A Ph.D. in History, Archaeology or related disciplines. Postdoctoral experience at world-leading institutions is preferred.

(4) A successful applicant will be expected to strive for excellence in research, teaching, and student mentorship.

(5) A strong record of research publications and a demonstration of teaching ability are also essential. Candidates with diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

COLLEGE OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION

Established in 2000, the College of International Education (CIE) is a self-funded unit of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) offering full-time Associate Degree and Undergraduate Honours Degree programmes at both the HKBU Kowloon Tong and Shatin Shek Mun campuses. It is a major education providing unit of the School of Continuing Education (SCE), one of the eight Faculties/Schools of HKBU. CIE currently enrolls about 4,000 students and is committed to sustaining the University’s mission of providing quality whole-person higher education with a Christian heritage. English is used as the medium of instruction at the College. Applications are now invited for the following position:

Lecturer II in History and Hong Kong Studies (PR0217/22-23)

  • China and the World
  • Hong Kong Landscapes and Buildings
  • Introduction to Oral History
  • Popular Culture in Contemporary China

Responsibilities:
The appointee is required to perform teaching duties in related disciplines; provide academic guidance to students; organise and coordinate experiential learning activities for students; and assist in the ongoing review and design of courses and programmes. Applicants should have a strong link with industries and professional bodies and acquired relevant professional qualifications.

Requirements:
Applicants should have a higher degree, preferably a doctorate in related disciplines and relevant teaching experience. Applicants must show dedication and a strong commitment to teaching and education within and beyond the classroom. They must also be a good team player with excellent communication skills.

Reference salary range: HK$36,000 – HK$47,000

The appointee will work on either/both the Kowloon Tong or/and Shatin Shek Mun campuses.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
