About Shenzhen Bay Laboratory
Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Life Information and Biomedicine) is a major strategic deployment of Guangdong Province and Shenzhen to build an international science and technology innovation center of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and a comprehensive national science center, and is a major innovation carrier fully supported by Shenzhen in the action of building a pioneering demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The permanent site of the laboratory is located in Bright Science City, with a total planned construction area of 400,000 square meters.
Shenzhen Bay Laboratory is oriented to the world science and technology frontier and people’s life and health, closely focusing on the national strategic layout, oriented to collaborate to overcome major scientific problems in life and health, focusing on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of major diseases such as tumor, metabolism and cardiovascular, neurodegenerative and infectious diseases, featuring IT+BT integration and multidisciplinary intersection, carrying out research on disease mechanism, life information, innovative drugs, medical imaging, etc. The research is conducted in the fields of disease mechanism, life information, innovative drugs and medical imaging. In the Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, major disease problems and cutting-edge technologies are used as the warp and weft of each other, and the matrix design of research units breaks the traditional disciplinary boundaries and fully promotes the advantages of cross-discipline; the two-wheel drive of free exploration and collaborative research, the combination of scattered reconnaissance and position breakthrough, conducts more comprehensive and accurate research on life and health problems, and practices a new model of national research system.
