Located in Dongguan, one of the main cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory (SLAB) started construction on December 22, 2017, and completed registration in April 2018. As one of the first Guangdong provincial laboratories, SLAB consists of four core sections: the Frontier Research Center, the Public Technology Platform and Large-scale Scientific Facilities, the Model Factory for Innovation, and the South Bay Interdisciplinary Science Center. Requirements for Full Professors

1. Ph.D. degree from a well-known overseas university, with over two years overseas research experience; Or Ph.D. degree from a domestic university, with overseas postdoctoral research experience; Or over three years’ overseas or domestic research experience, and have obtained faculty positions from a well-known overseas or domestic university or research institute; Or used to hold a senior technical position or serve as the chief technical consultant of a well-known R&D company.

2. Preferably under 40 years old (calculated as of December 31st of the application year) and should be able to report to work within six months after being offered the position.

3. Papers published in internationally recognized journals or academic conferences, strong academic research ability or potential, or with advanced domestic and foreign intellectual property rights and invention patents. 4. Research Position Opening at CityU Dongguan Research Institute

City University of Hong Kong (CityU) in early 2020 signed the collaboration agreements with Dongguan Municipal Government and Dongguan University of Technology to establish CityU (Dongguan) in Songshan Lake Science City. CityU (Dongguan) is scheduled for opening in September 2023.

In August 2020, City University of Hong Kong Dongguan Research Institute (CityUDGRI) was officially established to facilitate the preparatory work of CityU (Dongguan). It conducts technology transfer activities and brings in CityU’s competitive research projects and spearhead research in several key areas: Advanced Materials, Internet of Things, Computer Science and Information Technology as well as Neutron Scattering and Applied Physics. It also recruits Ph.D students through CityU in Hong Kong.

To accelerate the research work in the key areas and lay the foundation for the education and discipline construction of CityU (Dongguan), CityUDGRI is now recruiting talented Research Fellow. Once the CityU (Dongguan) is formally established, this position shall be subsumed under the Research Faculty thereof.

About SBISC

The South Bay Interdisciplinary Science Center (SBISC) is one of the four core divisions of the Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory (SLAB), situated in Dongguan, the Pearl River Delta. Centered around materials research, SBISC supports basic and applied research in matter and energy, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and artificial intelligence. Through various in house and collaborative programs, SBISC strives to become an academic leader in cutting-edge interdisciplinary research.

SBISC is currently conducting an international talent search under its Distinguished Junior Fellowship Program. We look for young scientists with a PhD degree in relevant fields to carry out independent and original research at the Center. The Fellowship offers a CNY 600,000 annual salary, housing, and expenses related to academic exchange and activities. Funding duration is 3 years but is extendable to 5 years based upon performance review and mutual agreement.
