About Lanzhou University

Lanzhou University was established in 1909 as the earliest institution of advanced learning and higher education in Northwest China. In 1996 and 2001, Lanzhou University became one of the key supporting universities of national “211 Project” and “985 Project”. Lanzhou University has been the best university in the northwestern region of China, ranking as one of the top 30 among over 1,500 universities across China. It is one of the key universities administered directly by the Ministry of Education.

With around 20,000 undergraduates and over 10,000 postgraduates, Lanzhou University has a long history of excellence in chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics and geology. According to ISI, the total citation of scientific articles from Lanzhou University is ranked the 16th in all Chinese universities. College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering & State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry (SKLAOC) in Lanzhou University are the leading chemistry research institutions in China, equipped with the state-of-the-art research facility. There are currently 179 faculty members in the college, including 58 Professors, 67 Associate Professors and 47 Ph.D. advisors. The college has more than 1000 undergraduate and 800 postgraduate students, studying in eight Ph.D program, ten MS program and four BS programs.

Lanzhou University is known to produce high impact research work particularly in the fields of Chemistry and Materials. Based on the recent ESI citation statistic data from ISI, Lanzhou University is listed as the top 1‰ (100th) in Chemistry across all the research institutes worldwide. In 2017, chemistry was selected in the “double first class” construction disciplines list of China

The College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering & State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry have several faculty positions open for application.

 

Qualifications:

An ideal applicant should have obtained a Ph.D degree in chemistry, materials, biology, or a related discipline. The applicant is expected to have recently completed postdoctoral training with outstanding publication record. Age requirement is not restricted for certain positions but special support will be given to applicants under 35 years of age.

 

Positions:

Positions are mainly open for principle investigators (PI) at professor or senior researcher level.

However, young researchers would like to join the college to start at assistant professor level are also welcome to apply.

 

Remuneration:

A successful candidate will be provided with a highly competitive salary, other compensations, and excellent start-up funds, as well as assistance in soliciting relevant national or university scholarly titles. Special supporting fund and postgraduate students are available in the first 3-5 years.

Senior faculties will provide young researchers help and useful guidance for career development.
