The Center for Foreign Languages Education provides high-quality English instruction to non-English major students at three separate university campuses located in Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Shenzhen. Responsibilities

1. Weekly teaching load: 14-18 periods of English courses to undergraduate/postgraduate students. A single period, or one teaching hour, is 45 minutes as required by the university.
2. To individually create and develop a course based on the needs of the CFLE and the teacher’s expertise.
3. To schedule after-class time to meet with students for questions from students. This should include two office hours twice a week.
4. To participate in teaching, research and other related service work and other social work required and assigned by CFLE.

Salary, Benefits and Terms

Monthly salary: pre-tax salary 9667 RMB / month (starting from September or March).
In addition to the monthly salary, a yearly bonus shall be paid based on successful completion of the required teaching hours and contribution to the academic development of the university.
The foreign language instructors who work full time are periodically located in Shenzhen or Zhuhai Campus. They will receive an additional work allowance to cover associated expenses, e.g. travel.

Qualifications

We are looking for instructors who

1. are native English speakers;
2. are aged between 25 to 58;
3. are physically able to meet the requirements of the job;
4. have a Bachelor’s degree or above (awarded by renowned universities in English-speaking countries);
5. have a minimum of two years ESL/EFL teaching experience with adult learners (Degree holders in the field of education or linguistics or holders of international TEFL certificates* may be exempt from the two-year teaching experience requirement. *Applicants who have obtained a TEFL certificate by participating in training provided by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs [SAFEA] will also be considered.)
6. are able to complete a one-year contract;
7. have passion for and are committed to education and teaching;
8. are creative and flexible in adopting and experimenting with different approaches and methods to teaching;
9. are able to recognize and deal with cultural differences in the classroom and on campus;
10. are able to implement culturally responsive teaching practices to ensure successful teaching.

POSITION AVAILABILITY

The College of Global Talents is seeking applicants for an opening at the Assistant / Associate / Full Professor level beginning September 2022. Applicants must possess relevant degrees according to the position.

Applicants should exhibit potential for publication of scholarly research but is not required. English is the medium of instruction. The compensation package is competitive. We advocate an American classroom culture with small class sizes.

1. Introduction to LETD

Established on June 17, 2020, the Research Center for Foreign Language Education and Teacher Development (LETD) is subordinate to the Institute of Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences of Beijing Normal University.

Objectives:

The LETD is committed to foreign language education and teacher development in Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macao Greater Bay Area and in China at large. Drawing on the resources of the School of Foreign Languages and Literature of Beijing Normal University, the center has a staff from the School of Foreign Languages of BNUZ and will recruit scholars and researchers at home and abroad, with an aim of building a team to produce high-quality scientific research achievements in the field of foreign language education and teacher development.

Job Description

Bryant Zhuhai invites applications for a Lecturer, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Economics. This is a three -year appointment beginning September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2025, which may be renewed. The academic year in Zhuhai runs from early September to late June and includes a winter break during Spring Festival (Chinese New Year).

Bryant Zhuhai is a 4-year English immersion, academic program developed as a joint venture partnership between Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island, USA and Beijing Institute of Technology Zhuhai (BITZH). In addition to the traditional 4-year academic program, Bryant Zhuhai also supports 2+2 and 3+2 academic models for students interested in finishing their education at Bryant University or other institutions of higher learning.

Bryant Zhuhai, which welcomed its first cohort of students in fall 2015, is in the city of Zhuhai in Guangdong Province in southern China near Hong Kong and Macau. Guangdong Province is a very important area for China’s economy, providing 10 percent of China’s total GDP and the location for many of China’s innovative manufacturing operations. A 32-mile-long bridge connecting Hong Kong to Zhuhai and Macau was opened in 2019 to increase the movement of people and commerce between Hong Kong and mainland China and Macau.

Principal Accountabilities

This position requires teaching undergraduate courses in economics, engaging in relevant research and/or professional development, and contributing to student growth and development through active involvement in student related activities and other institutional service.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s or Ph.D. from an English language higher education institution. Individuals with a degree in economics and related fields, particularly those with an international focus, are of strong interest. Practitioner experience and teaching experience are highly desirable. Applicants, both Chinese and non-Chinese, who are currently living and working in China or Chinese who are currently abroad and can return to China are of particular interest. The ability to support Chinese students who are advanced English language learners is a plus.

Compensation

Salary is competitive with Zhuhai educational market conditions. Benefits may include a travel allowance, the ability to apply for on-campus housing, the option to participate in an international health care plan, and reimbursement of relocation expenses (if applicable).

Job Responsibility

Foreign teachers from English countries are expected to undertake courses English conversation, English writing, IELTLS preparation course.

Note that we only consider teachers who are residing in China due to international travel restriction.

Salary and Welfare

• i. Salary: Salary shall be given according to the full set of Foreign Experts’ Salary Standards of the school. For special experts, salary shall be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

It takes only five minutes to walk from Gongbei Port to Macau, and about 70 minutes by boat from Jiuzhou Port to Hong Kong. Since the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge at the end of 2018, it takes only 30 minutes to travel from Zhuhai to Hong Kong.
• iii. Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway has been opened. It takes only 40 minutes to reach Guangzhou directly from Zhuhai.
