EARLY CHILDHOOD AND ELEMENTARY EDUCATION DIVISION

The Early Childhood and Elementary Education Division (ECEED), an academic arm of the School of Continuing Education, is the premier provider of early childhood and primary school teacher education in Hong Kong. It currently offers a range of academic programmes on a full-time or part-time basis for students pursuing courses with qualifications awarded from certificate to postgraduate levels. Its training programmes on early childhood education are supported by the Hong Kong Baptist University Kindergarten (HKBU-K) which provides a training platform for the students of ECE programmes. HKBU-K, as a university-affiliated kindergarten, adopts play-based learning and values whole-child development Applications are now invited for the following positions:

Lecturer I / Lecturer II / Assistant Lecturer (Early Childhood Education) (PR0867/22-23)

The appointee is expected to perform the following duties: (i) teach in their fields of studies; (ii) plan, design, develop curriculum and coordinate related matters; (iii) lead and manage part-time teaching staff to work as a team; (iv) execute quality assurance requirements; (v) supervise students on research projects and fieldwork practice; and (vi) provide guidance and counselling services to students. The Appointee may be required to serve at Hong Kong Baptist University Kindergarten, and perform duties including administration, staff management, communication with parents, and other tasks as assigned.

Applicants should possess a master’s degree majoring in Early Childhood Education. Preference will be given to candidates with a Certificate in Kindergarten Principals and an attainment of pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test. Those who have worked in education institutions or possess education administration experience will be highly desirable. Good interpersonal skills and willingness to work outside normal working hours are also essential. Holder of a bachelor’s degree with substantial experience and professional qualification in the relevant areas will also be considered.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of one to two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
