Lecturer I (English Section) (PR0605/22-23)

The appointee is expected to (i) develop and coordinate core and elective English courses; (ii) teach core and elective English courses, language enhancement courses, workshops and services, and other English courses assigned by the Language Centre; (iii) participate in the design and development of course syllabuses, teaching materials and assessment tasks, as well as creating self-access language learning materials; (iv) assist in organising events, workshops and extracurricular activities; (v) perform other duties assigned by the Language Centre.

Applicants should have a good postgraduate qualification, preferably a doctorate degree in Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, TESOL, Communication or a related field with native or native-like proficiency in English. A minimum of six years of full-time teaching experience at the tertiary level is required. Possession of a postgraduate teaching certificate/diploma and a proven record of excellence in teaching will be an advantage. For this position, candidates should have experience in teaching academic English writing, public speaking, materials development, e-learning initiatives, and the ability to work collaboratively with a large team of teachers. Candidates with insights into pedagogical innovations and proven leadership skills in implementing English activities and events will be an asset to the Language Centre.

The initial appointment will be offered on a one to two-year fixed-term contract beginning in September 2023. Re-appointment will be contingent on performance review, mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Reference salary range:

Lecturer I: HK$50,000 – HK$80,000

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
