  • Position A (Starting Fall 2024) Lecturer of Intercultural Communication and Academic Writing
  • Position B (Starting Fall 2024) Lecturer of Intercultural Communication & English-language-skill-based courses (listening, speaking, reading, and writing)
  • Position C (Starting Spring 2025) Lecturer of English listening and speaking courses

About Us

Hainan University (HNU) in Haikou, Hainan Province, is one of China’s key “211” universities. HNU’s HAITC is an innovative Sino-foreign cooperative tourism institution in partnership with Arizona State University (ASU). HAITC currently offers three dual-degree programs: Tourism Development and Management (TDM), Human Geography and Urban-Rural Planning (PRM), and Public Administration (PSPP). Courses are taught in English by both HNU and ASU faculty members. Lecturer in English Composition, Public Speaking and Intercultural Communication

Job Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to deliver excellent in-class instruction at the undergraduate/postgraduate level and participate in service activities for the college and student body. Contributing to graduate education is anticipated in the future. These faculty positions are renewable depending on teaching performance.

Qualifications

1) Required qualifications:

  • A Master’s Degree or above from an internationally recognized university
  • A degree in linguistics, communication, education, or related fields
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience
  • A CELTA/TESOL/TEFL certificate
  • Ability to use online teaching platforms such as Canvas and Blackboard to assistant teaching
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse students and faculty

2) Desired qualifications

  • Cambridge DELTA or IH-CAM
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness from supervisors, peers, or students
  • Experienced with Turnitin and AI Detection tools

3) Working conditions

  • Full-time lecturers are expected to teach at least 12 hours per week and contribute at least two more hours per week to educational activities outside the classroom. Any additional work assigned by the college will be paid extra.
  • Lecturers teaching Arizona State University courses (Academic Writing & Public Speaking) will acquire ASU adjunct status and will have access to ASU online resources.
  • Full-time lecturers are offered competitive housing stipends, cafeteria allowance, and travel reimbursements.
