Founded in 1897, Zhejiang University (ZJU) is a comprehensive, research-oriented, innovation-driven university with distinct features and substantial international impact. It ranks 45th in QS World University Rankings 2022 and was proudly awarded International Strategy of the Year by the Times Higher Education.The International Campus, Zhejiang University is a strategic initiative of ZJU and is a successful model of the open-up endeavor of Chinese higher education. By working closely with world-class universities, bringing together leading scholars, and attracting advanced educational resources, the International Campus has formed two most striking features of “international” and “interdisciplinary”. It has set up 3 leading institutes, namely the ZJU-UoE Institute (jointly with the University of Edinburgh), the ZJU-UIUC Institute (jointly with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), and the Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS). The 9 international research centers on campus including the joint center for advanced photonics, and the joint center for functional polymers etc. have established comprehensive cooperative partnerships with over 30 top universities and research institutes across the world.The International Campus is endowed with superb living and work conditions with an open and inclusive culture. Its faculty come from 13 countries and over 40% of them are non-Chinese. Above 20% of the students are overseas students from more than 70 countries. Over 95% of the faculty of the Campus have international work or study experience.The International Campus is situated in Haining, Zhejiang Province. Haina Young Scholars

Scholars with the potential to become leaders in relevant discipline, including winners of Research Fund of International Young Scientist, Cheung Kong Young Scholar, Science Fund for Outstanding Youth or equivalent.

Postdoctoral Researchers

Having obtained a PhD degree in related areas from renowned universities; Good research potential and capability; high standard of ethics and academic integrity. At least one paper in internationally leading academic journal as first author. Preferably under 35 years of age.

Hiring Institutes/School:

Zhejiang University-University of Edinburgh Institute (ZJE)

ZJE is established by two world-leading universities, Zhejiang University and the University of Edinburgh (2022 QS Ranking: 16) at the International Campus in Haining, China. Building on the existing strengths of both, the Institute aims to foster collaborations in teaching and research, explore interdisciplinary research, and be committed to frontier basic and applied research in life sciences. ZJE currently has four research centers, Aging and Stem Cell, Infection and Immunology, Biomedical Informatics and ZJU-UoE Biomedical and Health Translational Research Centre.

Applicants are welcome from stem cells, aging and regenerative medicine, infection and immunology, bio-informatics and medical informatics, and other biomedical areas.

Zhejiang University- University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Institute (ZJUI)

ZJUI is the engineering college on the International Campus, which is established jointly by the partnership of ZJU and UIUC in 2016. ZJUI has interests that address but are not limited to interdisciplinary topics exemplified by data science, artificial intelligence, advanced communication, digital manufacturing, networking, transportation electrification, power engineering, micro and nanoelectronics, photonics, microwave and terahertz systems, biotechnology, atomic-scale materials, energy and intelligent infrastructure.

Applicants are welcome from relevant computer, electrical and electronic, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, physics and mathematics science disciplines.

Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS)

Headquartered at the International Campus in the Yangtze River Delta, a hub of innovation and one of the world’s most dynamic regions, ZIBS is set to become a leading global ecosystem with business education as one of its core pillars, and with a particular focus on new technologies, new economy and new finance. Currently ZIBS offers four master’s programs: International Master of Business Administration (iMBA), International Master of Finance (iMF), International Master of Communication and Business (iMCB) and Mater of China Studies (MCS), as well as one bachelor’s program: Bachelor of Global Communication and Management (GCM).

(1) Tenured full professorship of ZJU;

(4) 300㎡+ of lab and office space according to research needs;

(5) Support for research team building, including assistance in PI recruitment, and uncapped number of postdocs and PhD candidates;

Haina Leading Scholars

(1) Tenured full professorship of ZJU;

(3) Start-up fund of 5 million+ yuan;

(4) 200㎡+ of lab and office space according to research needs;

(5) Support for research team building, including assistance in PI recruitment, and uncapped number of postdocs; Minimum one PhD student recruitment quota per year in the first three years;

(6) Joint appointment between ZJU and our partnering universities (UoE, UIUC etc.) after evaluation；

Haina Young Scholars

(1) Tenured associate professorship, or tenure-track associate professorship or assistant professorship of ZJU;

(2) 500,000 + yuan of salary commensurate with qualifications;

(3) Start-up fund of 3 million+ yuan for assistant professors and 4 million + yuan for associate professors;

(4) 150㎡+ of lab and office space according to research needs;

(5) Assistance in application of talent programs and research fund via the University and municipal departments, and provision of matching fund;

(6) One PhD student recruitment quota per year in the first three years;

(7) Joint appointment between ZJU and our partnering universities (UoE, UIUC etc.) after evaluation;

(8) Rental of a fully-furnished apartment, plus purchase of an on-campus Hainshire apartment at a preferential rate.

Postdoctoral Researchers

1. Academic environment: International and multidisciplinary research environment. Leading supervisor team from home and abroad.

2. Remuneration:

No less than RMB 150,000 yuan of annual salary provided by the institute/school,
+ plus RMB 150,000 or 200,000 yuan per year of subsidy by Haining municipal government according to credentials,
+ plus additional RMB 100,000 yuan per year for each successful applicant of “BoXin” (a national support program for outstanding postdoctoral researchers)

3. Research conditions:

Research program fund provided by supervisors,

+ a one-time start-up fund of RMB 100,000 or 200,000 yuan by Haining municipal government according to credentials,

+ recommendation to and matching fund for national/provincial scientific research projects.

4. Other support: Preferential policy of renting fully furnished apartment.

5. Career development: Recommendation to tenure/tenure-track position at ZJU upon completion of postdoctoral work. Eligible for Haining local employment support of RMB300,000 yuan total in three years, plus cash subsidy equivalent to 40 ㎡ of first housing purchased locally.
